Sure, if voters are not concerned whether or not innocent people are being convicted. Elected offices have several units that the voters did not vote for. Indeed, the Mobile District Attorney's Office has several units/teams- ie, the White Collar Crimes Unit, a Grand Jury Team, a Circuit Court Team, along with 14 or so other teams/units, is so not accountable to the voter for setting up these units? How would setting up a Conviction Integrity Unit, alongside these teams be undemocratic? Secondly, Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins established a Conviction Intregrity Unit, which lead to the exoneration of over 2 dozen people- innocent people, whom his predecessor prosecuted. Which individual would the people support, his predecessor that cost the state millions of dollars as a result of incarcerating these individuals and paying out the fines, or Craig Watkins who believes that true justice isn't getting the conviction, rather it is convicting that actual perpetrator of the crimes. Finally, John Bradley, the former District Attorney for Williamson County, Texas, also said the same thing that Ashley Rich has said (I think DA's who do not want to admit the truth read from the same playbook) and that is: "We have conviction integrity every time we receive and screen a case," Bradley said. "We need to be investing all we can in how we do our job now so we will be less likely to have them reviewed in the future.""http://articles.latimes.com/2012/may/08/nation/la-na-dallas-district-attorney-20120509/2 Fortunately, John Bradley finally lost his seat to an opponent that was supported by a victim's family after discovering that his predecessor, Ken Anderson, was responsibile for withholding evidence that led to Mike Morton being in prison for 25 years! Because they focused on Morton and withheld evidence to get a conviction, the real killer of Morton's wife went on to kill again- the family of the victim helped to defeat Bradley. Oh, yea, it is a safety issue, convict the wrong person, society remains unsafe. Oh, the state of Texas paid out 2 million dollars in Morton's case alone. So, David, that's my response. Peace, Artemesia

I suppose DA Rich would say she is already accountable--to the voters. And anything like the Conviction Integrity Unit you propose is contrary to the principle of vesting power democratically in the people via elections. What's the answer to such objections?

Thanks for your comments, if you get a chance, listen to this interview- it features Rodney's supervisor who testified at trial that he was at work. His was able to stay at his same job from 1989 until just before he became an inmate with the Alabama Department of Corrections: http://freerodneystanberry.com/blog/?attachment_id=119 or this radio interview. At some point, the truth should matter more than the conviction: http://freerodneystanberry.com/blog/?attachment_id=78

If these facts are correct right your wrong...NOW! Sending Light and Love to Rodney. And to those who are in a position to right this atrocity. "Do unto others as you would have done to you" think about this because one shall reap what they have sown. Holding on to a higher vibration...in love and on purpose

Better late than never. It's not too late to make things right for this man and this family and all the others who have been involved, including the person who tried to take responsibility for his wrongful actions.

Thank you for all your efforts towards correcting wrongful convictions. Surly we all know that being aware of a problem is the first step towards correction. Sadly there are so many people waiting years for the opportunity to have their truth be heard with no resources to fight massive legal barriers . Please read about another horrific injustice @ FREEPAULCORTEZ.ORG
